The Mediterranean is full of hidden gems and breathtaking jewels, and we’ve picked the most dazzling of the bunch for this voyage aboard our newest ship, the Azamara Pursuit℠.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

Barcelona

Barcelona is a cosmopolitan masterpiece. With a history rich in art and architecture, medieval, Gothic, and modern influences can be seen all over the city. Start at the waterfront and stroll up the shady, tree-lined Las Ramblas boulevard and discover some of the city's best shopping and bustling cafes.

Day 2:

Port-Vendres

When you travel to Port-Vendres, be prepared for your imagination to kick into over-drive. You could head to Cadaqués, a charming town that was once home to the artist Salvador Dali. Be sure to vist his world-famous museum while you're there. Or, simply hang out in Port-Vendres and enjoy the local sights and a meal of fresh seafood paired with the region’s renowned Collioure wines.

Day 3:

Cassis

Cassis is set between the natural splendor of the calanques, long narrow inlets in the towering white limestone cliffs, and majestic Cap Canaille. It is a photogenic little town, with a harbor promenade lined by pastel houses on one side and bobbing wooden fishing boats on the other. For full immersion, find a seaside table and dive into a bowl of bouillabaisse, a dish the town is famous for.

Day 4:

Marseilles

2,600 years of history come to life in the magnificent port of Marseilles. The Musée des Civilisations de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée is filled to the brim with insight on the culture of this wonderful region and well worth a visit. From here, explore La Panier for souvenirs to remind you of your journey. Cap off your day with a glass of pastis—an alcoholic beverage that is a local favorite!

Day 5:

Monte-Carlo

Monte-Carlo is a place with a reputation that’s far bigger than its mere 0.76 square miles. It’s the kind of place where professional athletes, royals, socialites, and Bond villains (or the actors who play them) rub elbows while searching for elusive lady luck. Come prepared to be amazed by the opulence, by the breathtaking beautiful surroundings, and for some of the finest people watching this side of the Atlantic.

Day 6:

Livorno

The list of illustrious names connected with this city is mind-boggling: Botticelli, Dante, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Galileo. Other colorful and fascinating characters were of dubious reputation: Machiavelli, and the religious extremist Savonarola, with his bonfire of the vanities. For many years the city was ruled by the powerful Medici family, patrons of the arts and bankers to the papacy, whose line included six kings and two popes.

Day 7:

Livorno

Ah, Florence—sublime birthplace of the Renaissance, its historic center full to bursting with elegant squares, imposing palaces, magnificent churches, and museums with such an abundance of riches it could make an art lover weep for joy.

Day 8:

Civitavecchia

Rome has something special to offer to all visitors, no matter their interests and tastes. Whether you daydream about fighting with gladiators in the Coliseum, debating with togaed senators in the Forum, tossing a coin in a fabled fountain, or being awestruck by the magnificence of St. Peter’s Basilica and Michelangelo’s masterpieces, Rome seems to live up to its sobriquet as the Eternal City.
