Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome to Madeira

Upon your arrival at Madeira International Airport, you’ll be met by a driver and brought to your hotel in Funchal center to drop your bags. The day is then yours to explore the charming city streets. Start your culinary discovery with lunch on Santa Maria Street in old town Funchal or head to the marketplace to visit the vendors for fresh fruit, vegetables, and local delicacies.

Day 2:

Funchal Food Tour

Dip into Madeira’s thriving culinary scene on this half-day wine and food tour of Funchal. Taste your way through Funchal’s restaurants and markets while learning about Madeira’s rich gastronomic history and admiring its distinctive ambiance. To top it off, sample local wines and mingle with friendly locals.

Day 3:

Madeira Wine Tour

Madeira is renowned for its fortified wine and this tasting tour is the ideal introduction. Explore vineyards and enjoy guided wine tastings as you experience the natural beauty of Madeira. You will also be treated to lunch at a wine estate and a gondola ride.

Day 4:

Free Day and Fado Dinner

Tonight, enjoy a Fado performance and dinner. But first, the morning and afternoon and yours to enjoy however you would like. Sleep in, take a swim in the hotel pool, or stroll through Funchal. Visit Funchal Cathedral, ride the cable car, or explore some of the city’s beautiful botanical gardens.

This evening, experience Fado: a style of Portuguese signing that dates back to the early 1800s and is known for its expressive and melancholic character. During the performance at a rooftop venue, enjoy a dinner of traditional Madeiran and Portuguese foods.

Day 5:

Until Next Time

After breakfast, use the last of your time in Funchal to shop for souvenirs or simply relax at a café before your transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
