This semi-escorted 7-day tour gives you a taste of the best Iceland has to offer, and leaves you wanting more. It’s a great way to experience some of Iceland’s most popular natural highlights in the north and the capital city, with visits to Lake Mývatn and the Golden Circle included. We take care of domestic, inter-Iceland flights and transfers, leaving you able to soak in the friendly atmosphere of the towns of Akureyri & Reykjavik on your own time. Come visit this amazing island and see for yourself the unique mixture of culture and nature!

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

Welcome to Iceland and Akureyri (Northern Lights in winter)

Arrive into Iceland, transfer from the International airport to the domestic airport and fly north Akureyri, where you settle in for 3-nights. In the winter months, the evening will consist of a Northern Lights Exploration Tour!

Day 2:

Lake Mývatn Classic

Enjoy an amazing journey through the Lake Mývatn area, full of extreme contrasts, bird life, flora, geothermal activity, geology and saga. Visit Goðafoss Waterfall and the Hverir Mud Pools, and Dimmuborgir Lava Fields of the Mývatn area. At the end of the day, enjoy a stop at the Mývatn Nature Baths, natural geothermal heated pools, based in the middle of lava fields with great view over the area. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit!

Day 3:

Free day Akureyri or whale watching

In the summer months, today you will enjoy a Whale Watching tour to view some of the Eyjafjord Humpbacks, and other species in their natural habitats. The specially trained whale watching guides are experts at spotting whales and will tell you about their behaviors and answer any questions you might have. In the evening, enjoy the unique nightlife in this northern village at one of the local pubs. In the winter time, this is a free day to explore the city or to check out one of our other great optional tours – a trip to Dettifoss Waterfall, or perhaps a visit to the Arctic Coastline & Micro Brewery!

Day 4:

Fly to Reykjavik

Fly down to the capital city of Reykjavik and enjoy the day exploring this magical city. Spend your day relaxing along the waterfront, shopping for unique lava-inspired products, or visit some of the many museums the city has to offer. Depending on your interests, we can schedule you on one of the many optional tours available.

Day 5:

Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is a popular destination for good reasons, it highlights Iceland’s main attractions, the saga, geothermal wonders and powerful nature. We visit historical location such as Þingvellir National Park in addition to beautiful sites such as Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir Hot Spring. Our local guides will share their knowledge and insights on the history and geology of the area, enhancing your experience and understanding of the area.

Day 6:

Free day in Reykjavik

Free Day in Reykjavik! Check out some of the optional tours available as Iceland has lots to offer from exploring glaciers to waterfalls to cave diving to natural springs.

Day 7:

Goodbye Iceland

See you next time! Today you have an airport transfer back to Reykjavik International Airport. If you have a late flight, perhaps you want to purchase entrance to the Blue Lagoon and spend a few more days relaxing before you travel!
