Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family excursion, or an adventure with friends, Playa de las Américas is the spot that has it all.
What is Playa de las Américas?
Playa de las Américas is the tourist capital of Tenerife situated on the southwestern coast of Tenerife, the beautiful and largest Canary Island located just off the Moroccan coastline. Highlighted by sandy beaches, a collection of cultured restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife, it has the amenities to accommodate any and all of your vacation needs.
What is there to do?
Situated right on the coast, we’ll start with the town’s most prominent feature; the beaches. For the adventurous; scuba diving among coral reefs, snorkeling alongside sea turtles, parasailing the blue skies or surfing on clear waters are all options minutes away from the resort. But if you’d rather spend the day soaking up the warm Tenerife sun on the shore, that works too.
Are you looking to get away with your friends or your significant other? You’re in the right place. The resort comes to life as the sun sets over the mountains. Nightclubs and bars line are scattered around Playa de las Américas. Whether you’re looking to sit back and enjoy live music, hop on the mic for karaoke night, or dance the night away, there’s a club for you.
Traveling with the kids? They’ll love it here too. Bring them to Siam Park Water Kingdom, one of Tenerife’s hottest attractions, and the world’s top ranked water park. From the Tower of Power to the Lost City, the massive water kingdom and its many attractions will entertain the whole family for the whole day (at least). The family fun doesn’t stop there; Jeep Safaris will guide you through the forests of Spain’s largest volcano. And if you don’t feel like sitting in a car, hop on the back of a donkey as you enjoy a trip through Tenerife’s mountain ranges.
Who can fully enjoy their vacation on an empty stomach? Luckily, you can find all sorts of dishes alongside the streets of the resort. Whether you’re hungry to learn more about the Canary Islands gastronomic culture or want to sit down for a pristine Michelin-star meal, there’s a never-ending list of available options.
If you’re wanting to shop until you drop, Tenerife is perfect for that. With no VAT IGIC (local tax), treating yourself to a shopping trip is a lot less guilt-free. Generally at 7%, shopping in Tenerife means everything is cheaper – plus you’ll find all the top boutiques and fashion houses here. The rest of Spain and Europe is up to 18% VAT!
Another thing the island is famous for its golf. Golf Las Américas, an 18-hole course surrounded by incredible landscape and even better views is located in the heart of Playa Las Americas.
Where do I stay?
The resort offers a long list of world class hotels for you to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for a luxury stay, an ocean view, or just a comfortable bed to end your fun-filled day, Tenerife hotels offer outstanding quality at fair prices. Some of our favorites are Hotel Sir Anthony and Hotel Las Madrigueras. With world-class golf courses, spas, and fine dining, you may not want to leave the hotel! If you wish to wake up to stunning views of the Tenerife beaches, then resorts such as the H10 and Europe Villa Cortés can be found feet from the shoreline. You can read more on the hotels here.
When should I go?
There’s really no wrong time to visit Tenerife. With an average annual temperature of around 70° Fahrenheit (21° Celsius), the Spanish Islands climate remains beautiful year-round. However, if you’re looking to soak up the sun, we recommend one of the hotter months; between June and September, when it warms up to around 75°F, and the waters reach nearly 73° for the perfect day at the beach.
Regardless of when you decide to travel, Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands is a magical destination should be on the top of your bucket list. If you want to visit one of the world’s most beautiful, exciting, and cultural-rich destinations, book your flight to Tenerife today!
