Dear Quest Travel Adventures Travelers,
After dealing with travel bans for almost two years, it is time to think about the all the trips you would like to take. And we have some great news - our destinations are OPEN FOR TRAVEL!
If you are ready to get out into the fresh air and stretch your legs sooner rather than later, it is now possible to travel! By booking through Quest you will be updated and assisted with your travel plans throughout the planning process and your trip. We will keep you up-to-date with protocols and requirements for each country. Some details about the requirements and procedures are summarized below.
Most of Europe is now open for visitors. Many countries are requiring a negative covid test administered within 72- or 48- hours of departure, regardless of vaccination status. Since the EU vaccine passport roll-out, there are some exceptions to this requirement, if you qualify.
Portugal requires testing as well as passengers to fill out a Portugal Record Locator Card,
https://portugalcleanandsafe.pt/en/passenger-locator-card. This needs to be completed 48-hours prior to departure with your airline, passport and itinerary information.
The best pathway for US citizens to visit the Azores is via the non-stop flight on Azores Airlines from Boston to either Sao Miguel or Terceira. These are currently departing about 4 times a week. In May of 2022, United will begin non-stop flights from Newark airport, which will be announced in more detail. More information about how to currently enter are available here: https://www.azoresairlines.pt/en/mandatory-procedures-for-entry-to-destinations
All Visitors are REQUIRED to present proof of a negative PCR covid test prior to boarding their outbound flight for the Azores. This test must be taken with 72 hours of departure and must be a PCR test administered by a certified laboratory, not a rapid test. Boarding will be denied if either digital or paper proof of this negative test is not presented.
All visitors must also present a completed My Safe Azores health form, either on paper or viewable on a mobile device. This form must be completed prior to boarding and is available at http://mysafeazores.com.
Rules are similar for travel to Madeira Island. All visitors are required to present proof of a negative PCR covid test prior to boarding their outbound flight. This test must be taken within 72 hours of departure and must be a PCR test administered by a certified laboratory, not a rapid test. All visitors must also complete the Madeira Safe to Discover health form in the 48 hours prior to departure, which is available at https://madeirasafe.com/.
Spain has announced they are open to all US passport holders. Prior to departure you have to fill out the Spain Health form. https://www.spth.gob.es/ If you are planning on visiting other countries before going to Spain, there may be additional testing requirements. More information can be found at https://travelsafe.spain.info/en/
You will also need a test when returning to the US. Currently, the CDC is requiring all travelers entering the United States to show proof of a negative covid test administered within 3 days of entry. As this is mandated by the United States, travelers are responsible for scheduling the appointment and must pay for the test.
All of these destinations require the use of masks in all public outdoor and closed spaces. Some facilities may take your temperature before entering. Airlines require you to wear masks on your flights as well.
Contact us today to learn how you can travel right now to the Atlantic Islands! Other destinations will be reopening soon and we will let you know when we have that information with updated protocols.
COVID-19 UPDATE FEBRUARY 20, 2021
To our Quest Travelers,
Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have cancelled all tours through the end of March 2021. We are poised to resume bookings as soon as the EU Travel Ban on US Citizens is lifted. We will continue to evaluate the situation, work with our hotel partners and airlines, and decide if future cancellations are needed starting at the beginning of February.
We are closely monitoring the US government's changing advice and will be in touch as things develop.
All of our guides and vendors on the ground in our locations are looking forward to hosting our clients again and have established plans for safe operation. Portugal has initiated the Clean & Safe program for all tourism-related companies.
As travel restrictions change, our advice to travelers may change as well. We encourage you to continue to check with the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), or local government authorities for more information about the impact to your destination. You can also find links to additional resources and updated information on Tripadvisor's Covid-19 page.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to planning your dream vacation in the second half of 2021 and beyond!
