Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1:

Gran Canaria

With its variety of landscapes, climates, and attractions, Gran Canaria is sometimes referred to as a “Miniature Continent”. The south features sunny resort communities, the bird sanctuary of Palmisos Park, and Maspalomas (renowned for its beaches, sand dunes, and lighthouse), while the east has the fishing village of Puerto de Mogan, otherwise known as “Little Venice” due to its many canals.

Day 2:

Tenerife

A notoriously festive destination, Tenerife is the biggest, most well-known of Spain’s Canary Islands, and is characterized by a rugged coastline and miles of beaches, popular for kite surfing and swimming.

Day 3:

La Palma

The aptly nicknamed “pretty island”, La Palma is one of Spain's Canary Islands, with incredible natural sites like Caldera del Taburiente National Park, Caldera de Taburiente and El Roque de los Muchachos.

Day 4:

Madeira

Madeira has its share of captivating squares, picturesque villages, idyllic landscapes, and stunning views. It also offers some unexpected pleasures, like it's wildly different parks and gardens. Take a cable car up to Monte so that you may descend by toboggan sledge. Originally a form of fast transport for Monte residents, the trip involves sliding at high speed over narrow, winding streets.

Madeira

Day 6:

At Sea

Agadir

Tucked near the foot of the Atlas Mountains and surrounded by the rich plains of the Souss Valley, Agadir is a sunny cosmopolitan city where modern architecture meets the shell of a colonial port nearly leveled by a 1960 earthquake.

Day 8:

Casablanca

The gateway to Morocco's exotic interior and the Imperial Cities of Rabat and Marrakech, Casablanca is a modern city swathed in rich history and vintage romance. An important trading center, Casablanca has passed through many hands as a colonial stronghold for the Romans, Portuguese, and French, absorbing these influences while maintaining its position as the economic heart of the country into its modern independence.

Day 9:

Gibraltar

Overlooking the mouth of the Mediterranean Sea from 1,400' high and in a strategic position to control all naval traffic between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, the Rock of Gibraltar is a sight to behold.

Day 10:

Cadiz

The heart of Cadiz is its old town, cloistered within a bastion ringed by the sea. Here tiny cobblestone streets lead into beckoning cafe'-filled squares, where you can sip while appreciating Moorish architecture.

Day 11:

Lisbon

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and its magnificent harbor made it a logical trading port as far back as the Phoenicians; today it's renowned for an active culture of festivals, art and fashion.

Day 12:

Lisbon

Lisbon is rich in architecture and crisscrossed by monument-studded grand boulevards. Must-sees include the church of Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora, which dates back to the 12th century; Musee Calouste Gulbenkian, one of Europe's leading fine arts museums; and Torre de Belem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous monuments in Portugal.
